This is my writing at the beginning of the year.

Term 4, 2015

Look what I can write now!

This term I have been learning to use punctuation such as full stops, comma's and speechmarks and write more than one idea 

with details related to the topic.

            I am good at remembering my finger spacing and sounding             out words. It can be tricky to remember to write on the line. Ashton

Reading punctuation

We are learning to identity capital letters, full stops, exclamation marks and question marks. 

"This is a question mark. It mean's that you are asking a question." 

Painted Paper Bouquets

LI: We are learning to mix and blend primary colours.

First we mixed primary colours together to make new colours then we

blended them together to paint our vase and petals. Next we used watercolours to paint our flowers and then we put it all together.

Measuring with our Gingerbread man

LI: We are learning to compare and measure the length of similar objects.

First we measured and made a gingerbread man out of cardboard. Next we had to build a bridge out of blocks and cardboard of different lengths that were long enough for him to cross.

"We made a bridge out of blocks for our gingerbread man. It was lots of fun."

Last but not least we made a Gingerbread man, 

decorated it and got to take him home to eat. Yum!

Sharing fairly

We have been looking at fractions like halves and quarters and I have been learning to share one whole object fairly between 2 and 4 friends. 

This can be tricky sometimes when I have to share one object with 4 people, 

so we practised how we could do this by cutting our dough ball and pizza's into 4 equal pieces.

"I can cut it into 4 pieces."

Beginning sounds...

I am learning to make the beginning sounds of new words.

"I can make the sound of the first letter to help me read."

Playing soccer...

I am learning to use desribing words and add detail to my story writing.

"I can find words, but it can be tricky sometimes."

100 days smarter!

Room 7 celebrated our 100th day of learning,

 we are now 100 days smarter!

Alphabet letters and sounds

I am learning to know my alphabet letters and make their sounds.

It can be tricky to remember some of the sounds.

"F-f-f-fish."

My car

I am learning to publish on Kidpix.

"It was fun using Kidpix."

Before numbers

I am learning my before numbers up to 10.

Sometimes it can be tricky to remember which number comes 

before a number but I know I can check on my number line.

"I know 3 comes before 4."

Scooter Skills day

I am learning how to be safe on my scooter when I ride on the footpath and past sneaky driveways. It was tricky to remember to stop at the sneaky driveways, but I stopped and walked my scooter past each time.

Reading

I am learning that illustrations can help me read.

"I can look at the pictures to help me read."

I can...

I am learning to write the word ‘can’ in my story. I am learning to find new words in and around our classroom. I am proud of my story writing. 

The next step for me might be to find new words on my alphabet card.

Swimming

Room 7 is having a fun time learning to swim in term 1. 
Our swimming days are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

We are learning to get dressed and undressed by ourselves

and enter and exit the pool safely.

"I can sprinkle water on my face."

Numbers

I am learning to write my numbers up to 10.

"I can write these numbers."

I am in Year 1 and my teacher is Mrs Nelson. I am in Room 7. 

I am looking forward to all the new things I am going to learn this year.
